Audi has taken the wraps off its all-new A3 Cabrio ahead of its official sales launch planned for February next year. The car comes with a folding fabric top, which opens or closes automatically in just nine seconds. BRABUS, super tuner of all things Mercedes, will debut to the world its tuning package for the new Mercedes SLR McLaren Roadster. In addition to the usual 20-inch Brabus wheel sets, the styling package is limited to a bolt-on front spoiler and rear diffussor. Both of these aerodynamic components which are made of exposed carbon fiber, were fine tuned through wind tunnel testing. Fernando Alonso spent an entire day at Honda’s Brackley factory this week and even had a seat fitting, reports from Germany on Thursday said. The 2008 Dakar Rally, a rigorous off-road endurance test, begins on January 5th in Lisbon, Portugal. The event will end on January 20th in Dakar, Sengal. That is a distance of 9,273 km (or 5,762 miles) full of sand dunes, rocks, mud, camel grass, etc., and an increase of more than 1,000 km (621 miles) over the 2007 race. Over the past few months, several reports have surfaced that Ferrari is considering a V8 powerplant for its next-generation supercar. The rumor that K.I.T.T. will be played by a Mustang in the upcoming Knight Rider TV series appears to be true. That is, assuming someone with a lot of time on his hands didn't mock up a Hoff-ified Mustang just for the hell of it. That's extremely doubtful, as the car you see above is actually wearing the body kit of a Shelby GT500KR, which isn't easy to come by for weekend projects. Toyota is recalling 264,000 vehicles, including Lexus models, due to defective fuel pipes. The vehicles were manufactured in Japan, but sold elsewhere. The Lexus models include the GS300, IS250 and IS350. Reportedly, though there have been 39 cases of problems caused by the defect, none has resulted in an injury. [more...]

We knew it was only a matter of time before BMW would take the can opener to its 400 HP uber-coupe, and these newest spy shots prove that development is well underway. While little has changed from the standard 3-series cabrio, the fender flares, cut-up front fascia and quad exhaust are clearly M-specific kit, despite the lack of visible vents in the hood and on the front quarter panels.
